Bronze 36,6x32,2 mm.; Circular white metal medal with laterally-pierced look for ribbon suspension; the face with a hand holding an automatic rifle upright, laurel leaves to the right, two strands of barbed wire horizontally beyond, circumscribed ‘ZASLOUZILY BOJOVNIK PROTI FASISMU’ (Meritorious Fighter Against Fascism); the reverse inscribed ‘CESKOSLOVENSKY SVAZ PROTIFASISTICKYCH BOJOVNIKU’ (Czechoslovak Association of Anti-Fascist Fighters), a five-pointed star above, linden leaves below; on original ribbon mounted for wear; in original case of issue. The medal was issued in the 1970s to members of the Association that had been formed in 1951 from the forced merger of various veterans’ associations. The Association was slavishly loyal to the ruling Communist regime and emphasised the role of the Communists in defeating Nazi occupation. In 1990 the Association was renamed the Czech Union of Freedom Fighters (Cesky Svaz Bojovníku za Svobodu). ; Condition-I
