France, THE CARNEGIE MEDAL FOR ACTS OF COURAGE, 1929, Medal, UNC; France, THE CARNEGIE MEDAL FOR ACTS OF COURAGE, 1929 Medal, UNC, Bronze Plaque: 80 x 52mm by Louis Dejean (French, 1872-1954). Medal was created in 1909 and this iteration is dated 1929 Monnaie de Paris, with cornucopia. OBV: A profile of Andrew Carnegie, right. Above the head, at the top of the medal, these words: FONDATION/ CARNEGIE/ 1909. Below the portrait, these words: LIBÉRALITÉ/ D’UN CITOYEN AMERICAIN/ LES ACTES DE COURAGE/ ACCOMPLIS EN FRANCE. REV: A winged female figure, right, holds a laurel wreath above a kneeling nude man, left. Above the winged figure these words: AUX HÉROS/ DE LA CIVILIZATION. In the exergue, a cartouche containing the name of the awardee: LEROUX (A)/ 1929. Condition is excellent, noting a couple of minor bumps to the corners on the obverse. From the T.H.G Collection.
