Philip I; 244-249 AD, Rome, 248 AD, Sestertius, 14.98g. RIC-167a, C-18. Obv: IMP M IVL PHILLIPVS AVG Bust laureate r. Rx: AETERNITAS [AVGG] around, G S (sic) in exergue, Elephant walking l. ridden by driver. A curious engraver's error, G S for the normal S C on reverse, which occurs on several sestertius dies of the AETERNITAS AVGG Elephant type. Cf. Lanz 26, 1983, lot 815 (same rev. die as ours) and Platt, March 1982, lot 662 (different rev. die). aVF
