Nerva. Sestertius; Nerva; 96-98 AD, Rome, 97 AD, Sestertius, 28.10g. BM-107, Paris-98, C-67 (5 Fr.), RIC-83. Obv: IMP NERVA CAES AVG - P M TR P COS III P P Head laureate r. Rx: FORTVNA - AVGVST S - C Fortuna standing l. holding rudder and cornucopia.Although we cannot get full confirmation, it seems this coin appeared in a price list by Frederick S. Knobloch in the 1960s. The portrait is utterly wonderful and flawless with dark green patination. A small ancient contact mark raised the field of the reverse at 5:00 very slightly. A better portrait of Nerva on sestertius is impossible to find. It is v probable that this coin has been in collections for the last serval hundred years, though unconfirmable.. Virtually MS
