SELEUCID KINGDOM OF SYRIA. ALEXANDER I BALAS, king 152-145 BC. Tetradrachm, Laodicaea in Phoenicia (Berytos/ Beirut), dated 150-149. AR 14.15 g. Diademed head r. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Eagle with open wings standing l. on palm branch, in upper r. field, trident, in l. field, date ΓΞP (year 163 of the Seleucid era) and monogram. Houghton collection 70,706; Houghton-Lorber, SC II,236,1524.2; SNG Spaer 1505. Rare. High relief. Good style. Short flan. Extemely fine
