Andronicus II Palaeologus (AD 1282-1328), with Michael IX. AV/EL hyperpyron (22mm, 4.03 gm, 6h). About VF, Fine Style, clipped, die shift, flan flaw. Constantinople, ca. AD 1294-1320. Half-length figure of the Virgin Mary, orans, within circuit of city walls with six towers / A/N/Δ/PO/NI/K-X/M/Δ/Є/C/Π/O/T, Christ, standing facing, wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium and colobium, IC-XC flanking head, crowning Andronicus II (on left) and Michael IX (on right) kneeling to either side, each wearing divitision and loros. Sear 2396. Unusually well engraved legends for issue.
