Catherine II bronze "Partitions of Poland" Medal ND (1793) Choice AU, cf. Diakov-229.1 & 229.2 (this type unlisted). 78mm. 205.5gm. Timofey Ivanov (two-line signature below bust) variant. This piece has a young bust of Catherine II that is distinctly different from the two listed varieties, and this example has a different obverse legend. Obv. Laureate bust right. Rev. Crowned double-eagle holding two maps with the years 1772 and 1793 with IBG below. Two decades later, Russian and Prussian troops entered the Commonwealth again and the Second Partition was signed on January 23, 1793. A rare unlisted medal. Boldly struck with even brown patina and a few tiny spots of incrustation.
