Anne gold Guinea 1709 AU58 NGC, KM529.2, S-3572. An extraordinary offering. Anne Guineas rarely approach Almost Uncirculated grades, being plagued by soft striking and heavy circulation. As such, this superb AU58 piece is surely one of the finest known, and is the single second highest certified example by either NGC or PCGS. Its detail is razor sharp and its fields Prooflike, hints of peach gracing the lemon-gold planchet and bolstering the eye appeal. Only the lightest contact to the high points has prevented this piece from entering Mint State. This very coin realized $8,000 hammer in the 2008 Millennia Collection sale; we can only anticipate the response it will receive more than a decade later, in a far stronger market. Ex.
