Description

Saxe-Meiningen. Georg II gold Proof 20 Mark 1914-D PR67 Cameo PCGS, Munich mint, KM205, J-281. Struck as a two-year type, and a key within the German Imperial series, with only 1,000 business strikes produced and an undocumented number struck in Proof, according to the Standard Catalog of World Coins. This example represents an absolute peak of available certified quality for the issue, with no others at either PCGS or NGC surpassing the lofty PR67 level. The impressive grade appears fully deserved, with a complete lack of any distracting handling or contact present over the surfaces, this feature resulting in a strong visual appeal only further aided by the presence of a subtle but distinctive cameo contrast. A true numismatic jewel, and one that very well may remain unsurpassed. From the Caranett Collection
