Description

Zurich. Canton gold "J. H. Hottinger" Medal of 5 Ducats 1667-HIG MS62 PCGS, SM-454. 33.9mm. 17.26gm. By H.J. Gessner. Struck in the early 18th century, commemorating the death of renowned theologian Johann Heinrich Hottinger. Very scarce in gold, this handsome piece boasts intensely glossy fields and a superb portrait - it is surprising that it has not received a 'Specimen' designation. Weighing 5 Ducats, this piece surely will appeal to both collectors of Swiss medals and those concerned with multiple Ducat offerings.
