Description

Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1736 Mo-MF AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM148, Onza-429. Attractive, and a significant rarity in higher grades. This lofty Almost Uncirculated 8 Escudos boasts pleasing light-gold luster across the whole planchet, boldly detailed with minimal wear and only minor contact marks. The obverse shows a slight irregularity in level to the right of Philip's bust, but this is as-made and hardly reduces the eye-appeal. Very desirable in as high a quality as this, and an excellent type coin for this elusive series.
