Victoria gilt-silver Matte Specimen "Diamond Jubilee" Medal 1897 SP66 PCGS, BHM-3506 var., Eimer-1817a var. Exceptionally high grade for this type, or indeed, for any matte type; coins and medals with this finish tend to receive lower grades as the sandblasting process upsets their surfaces. A rich butterscotch in color with sublime surfaces, absolutely outstanding for issue. This medal is known in gold, silver and copper, but is unlisted in any major reference with this silver-gilt finish and absent from auction record; as such, an extremely rare and potentially unique offering.
