Description

George IV gold 1/2 Sovereign 1824 MS65 NGC, KM689, S-3803. The only MS65 specimen certified by NGC or PCGS - and the single finest in both databases. Despite this, its grade could easily be deemed conservative, fields clear from all significant marks and boasting a complete coverage of silken luster over a decadent lemon-gold flan. We handled this very specimen at our June 2007 sale, where it realized $3,100 hammer; well over a decade later in a market hungry for high-grade British gold, we expect great things of this charming gem.
