George III gold Guinea 1798 MS65 PCGS, KM609, S-3729. Outstanding, an absolutely untouched representative of this late Georgian Guinea. 1798 as a date is often encountered in higher than average grades, but rarely so nice as this gem-quality example. Due to the relatively shallow engraving of this type even the lightest surface rub can give them the appearance of a more circulated specimen, yet this offering has been produced and preserved to such a degree that even the most minute texturing of the dies has been represented on the high points. A firm gem, bright lemon-gold in color with abundant cartwheel luster, slight evidence of clashed dies beneath George's portrait (the tip of the reverse 'spade' is visible in incuse). Simply a must-have for the highest tier collector of British Guineas.
