Description

James II gold "Elephant & Castle" Guinea 1685 UNC Details (Obverse Tooled, Cleaned) NGC, KM453.2, S-3401. Extremely rare and extremely desirable in any grade, the most coveted of James II's Guineas bearing the elephant and castle hallmark denoting its gold being sourced by the Royal African Company. Despite its certification, this piece is highly appealing to the eye and bears original luster at the peripheries; its tooling is limited to delicate smoothing on the obverse and barely detracts from the visual allure this rarity boasts. Surely one of the finest examples available to commerce.
