Victoria "No L.C.W." 50 Cents 1870 XF45 NGC, London mint, KM6. Variety without engraver's initials on truncation. The first date in this popular series and intensely difficult to obtain in decent grades; for the type, this XF45 example is unusually well-preserved and highly desirable thus. Dove-gray in color with a lightening at the highpoints, no areas of particular weakness to note, an overall strong eye appeal and a piece surely but a hair's breadth from Almost Uncirculated. A rarely matched offering deserving of the finer Canadian collections.
