MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (18mm, 8.58 gm, 4h). NGC MS 4/5 – 5/5, Fine Style. Posthumous issue of Babylon, under Seleucus I Nicator, ca. 311-300 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing pendant earring, necklace and triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent right, hair falling loose below, crest ends short and parallel / AΛEΞANΔPOY / BAΣ-IΛEΩΣ, Nike standing left, wreath upward in right hand, cradling stylis on left arm; MYP monogram in wreath in left field below wing, HP monogram in right field below wing. Price 3716 var. (HYP monogram in wreath, sphinx on helmet). SC 81.9 var. (same).
