This scarce Specimen was prepared by Waterlow & Sons to promote their banknote printing capabilities. Completely original and seldom seen in this format. Interestingly, this note is the initial denomination for the series that includes the infamous 500 Escudos of 1922, for which the order forms were forged by Alves Reis. Red overprints and hole punched cancellations are seen on this handsome Color Trial.
