Mauritius Government of Mauritius 10 Rupees 7.8.1900 Pick 14 PMG Fine 12. This middle denomination is surprisingly difficult to obtain in any grade, across the entire range of dates. When the Mauritian Rupee was installed, it was exchange rate was £1 = 10.25Rs, which matched the known denominations in Britain and many of the colonies still using Sterling. Between 1876 and 1904, approximately 568,458 of these large banknotes were printed and issued. Dates and signatures for this era of notes appear to be stamped, which makes specific dating and serial number accounting difficult. Chinese ink notations are seen on the reverse of this otherwise decent example. At the time of cataloging, this is the only example graded in the PMG Population Report. From the Dodo Collection
