Description

Canada Bank of Canada $100 1954 BC-35a "Devil's Face" PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. There is only one prefix available for this first series of Queen Elizabeth II $100 notes, A/J. Across the two signature varieties, about 2.4 million were produced and released, but were mostly redeemed in 1956 due to the public discovering a peculiar "Devil's Face" design in the Queen's hair. The Bank of Canada agreed that the design should be freshened a bit, and a modified hair design notes were released shortly thereafter. Pack fresh quality $100 notes with the original hair design are quite scarce, let alone with Gem designation, as so many Bank of Canada notes are notoriously miscut. This example is eminently collectible in such a handsome grade.
