China Banque Sino-Belge, Shanghai 5 Mexican Dollars 15.7.1912 Pick S567 S/M#H190 PMG Very Fine 20. Simply an incredible issued banknote, both in terms of rarity and intrigue. Denominated in Mexican Silver Dollars and backed by the Sino-Belgian Bank in Shanghai, this type circulated alongside other European Bank issues in the early 20th century. Chinese banks had purchased Mexican silver coinage for decades, and they easily circulated alongside local Chinese coins, which made it easy for the Sino-Belgian bank to use that silver as a base for issuing banknotes. Extremely rare as an issued note, of which only a few examples are known to exist. Some expert minor restorations were executed to protect this note for future generations to enjoy, and they do not detract from the overall appearance of this note. An important opportunity to acquire a seriously rare banknote.
