Chihli. Kuang-hsü Dollar Year 23 (1897) VF35 PCGS, KM-Y65.1, L&M-444. Variety with dotted triangular eyes. A very presentable circulated example, a bit weakly struck but delightfully toned, aged stone-gray fields admitting notable champagne backlight which produces a slightly olive color, while charcoal accents bring a much needed sharpness to the dragon. Difficult to acquire without repairs, chopmarks, or cleaning.
