Description

Minh Mang gold 7 Tien Year 15 (1834) XF Details (Rim Damage, Cleaned) NGC,  KM228, Sch-206, S&H-Unl. A truly imposing rendition of this very elusive type, with this being not only the single certified example, but also the only representative to cross the auction block several times in the past 12 years. Despite the noted edge dings at 1 and 7 o'clock respectively, the coin on the whole appears extremely handsome for the grade, evidence of past cleaning incredibly light save for some minor scratches to the right of the Minh character, the surfaces softly luminous and overlaid by a marvelous red-gold tone that speaks to the piece's age and long time careful storage. A covetable opportunity to acquire one of probably just a handful of surviving specimens before it disappears once again. Ex. Stack's Bowers Hong Kong Auction (19 August 2012, Lot 50359); Heritage ANA Auction #3010 (16 August 2010, lot 20168); Baldwin's Hong Kong Auction #42 (30 August 2007, lot 726).
