Maastricht. Provincial Siege 100 Stivers 1794 UNC Details (Cleaned) NGC, KM10, Dav-1856, Delm-756. Siege coinage. Lasting from September 22 to November 4, 1794, the city was under a successful siege by the First French Republic, led by General Jean-Baptiste Kléber. This was enabled by the withdrawing of British, Dutch, and Austrian forces due to French victories, leaving Maastricht isolated. A stunning artifact from those brief weeks of occupation, displaying crisp devices on a lovely shimmering iridescent surface. The first to be offered by our firm in recent years.
