Central American Republic Counterstamped 8 Reales ND (1840) AU55 NGC, KM120.3. Host: North Peru. Republic 8 Reales 1836 LM-TM; Counterstamp: Type III sun and mountains (UNC Strong). A superb CAR countermarked issue, struck on a North Peru host, quite a bit scarcer than the standard Peruvian hosts of the period. The envelope patina is excellent, as is the countermark, awarded the strongest designation by NGC. Accompanied by an old collector's ticket.
