Augustus minted this issue which commemorates their work in Egypt by showing a crocodile, symbolically representing Egypt, chained to a palm tree with a laurel wreath, representing Rome, along with COL-NEM for the Colony of Nemausus. This symbolism remains on Nîmes' coat of arms to this day. HID09801242017 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
