ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 2nd-1st centuries BC. AR tetradrachm (28mm, 16.40 gm, 12h). NGC Choice Fine 5/5 - 2/5, graffito, edge marks, brushed. New Style coinage, ca. 118/7 BC, 4th month. Ammonius, Callias, and Heracle- magistrates. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet, ornamented with leaping Pegasus above upturned cheek flap, vine scroll on bowl, protomes of four horses above visor / Α-ΘΕ / AMM/ΩNI/OΣ-KAΛ/ΛIAΣ / HPA/KΛE, owl standing facing on overturned amphora inscribed with Δ (month); two lit long torches in right field with flames blowing to left, ME (engraver's initials) below, all within olive wreath.
