D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted, cuirassed bust facing slightly right, spear in right hand over shoulder, shield decorated with horseman motif on left arm / SALVS REI-PVBLICA-E, Theodosius II seated facing and Valentinian III standing, wearing consular robes, mappa in right hand, cruciform scepter in left; star above, CONOB in exergue. RIC X -, cf. 233-6. The celator began cutting the reverse legend after SALVS with some other legend, realized the error and recut the first three letters, removing the fourth and leaving a pit in the die, causing the bump by the head of the emperor. Additionally, the known legend breaks on the reverse after the I-P are none, B-L, L-I and I-C. This example with A-E is not in RIC.
