Kweichow. Republic "Auto" Dollar Year 17 (1928) XF Details (Cleaned) PCGS, Chengdu mint, KM-Y428, L&M-609, Kann-757e, WS-1109. Two blades of grass variety. A formidable representative of this iconic type in the Chinese series which has jettisoned in popularity in the last two decades. This particular example offers a fairly typical state of preservation, the cleaning confirmed by some shine and chatter, but the details of the automobile remain strong and rearticulated by deep crevice toning. A prime example for the price-conscious type collector. Struck to commemorate the completion of Kweichow's first provincial highway and depicting Governor Zhou Xicheng's personal automobile, this design completely departs from numismatic tradition as an explicit visualization of the technological advancement of China, as promoted and outlined by Sun Yat-sen years prior.
