Overijssel. Provincial silver Medal ND (1597) XF Details (Tooled) NGC, Van Loon-I-482. 56mm. 51.1gm. Struck by Overijssel to the weight of 2 Talers to commemorate the Victorious Campaign of Maurice de Nassau in 1597. A popular commemorative type, often found mounted, cleaned, or tooled such as the present piece but rarely so lightly or elegantly as this, with only minute scraping in the fields which hardly detracts from the eye appeal at all. Boldly (if doubly) struck, evenly and shallowly worn with attractive toning and residual luster, a rarely offered medallic double Taler of outstanding quality.
