Perhaps the most iconic gold issue of Abdul Hamid's long reign, this impressive Monnaie de Luxe issue is the first representative of the date that we have handled, lavishly ornate with an intricate floral border and the multi-faceted arms of the empire front and center. Though not an excessively scarce regnal year according to the mintage figures, we can find no other examples coming to auction in recent decades.
