Description

Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1733 Mo-F AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM148 (Rare), Cal-2229. An altogether elusive type at this level of preservation for one of the first milled issues from the New World. Resplendence clearly abounds this borderline Mint State specimen, the protected recesses of the legends remaining especially attractive when illuminated. Philip's iconic portrait and crowned arms, though admitting minor central striking weakness characteristic of the series, yield no serious evidence of contact and thus will doubtlessly be met with strong bidder enthusiasm.
