Description

Victoria gold "Coronation" Medal 1838 MS63 NGC, Eimer-1315, BHM-1801. 36.5mm. 31.16gm. By Benedetto Pistrucci. VICTORIA D G BRITANNIARUM REGINA F D Diademed bust left // ERIMUS TIBI NOBILE REGNUM Queen enthroned to right, receiving crown from Britannia, Hibernia and Scotia, to left; in exergue INAUGURATA / DIE JUNII XXVIII / MDCCCXXXVIII. An always in-demand type when located in gold that generates substantial fanfare when offered in comparable preservations. Distinguished by a Choice assignment, Victoria's instantly recognizable bust in exceedingly high relief broadcasts ample detail, a feature one expects from the skilled hand of Pistrucci. As the second-finest example we've handled in recent decades, and only two between both censuses ranking higher, we anticipate elevated engagement when the offering at hand crosses the auction block.
