Description

Victoria gold "Shield" Sovereign 1841 AU55 PCGS, KM736.1, S-3852, Marsh-24A (R3). Unbarred As in GRATIA. A sought-after rarity within the Victorian Sovereign series, distinguished by both its date and the unbarred "A" letters in "GRATIA." Always greeted with much enthusiasm when encountered in grades approaching Mint State; for added context we note the XF40 NGC we handled in May of this year sold for $9,000 and a year prior to that an XF Details NGC realized $7,200. The present selection is clearly in a superior state of preservation in every respect; the reverse boasting practically full luster whereas the obverse is somewhat more subdued yet hosting moments of glimmering bloom in the legends. A wonderful opportunity to obtain a pleasing example in an old-style PCGS holder, and we anticipate keen bidder attention as this crosses the block. Ex.
