Description

British Administration. British Imitative 3-Piece Lot of Certified 2 Stuivers NGC, 1) Utrecht Imitation 2 Stuivers 1786-Dated - UNC Details (Cleaned), cf. KM112 (for type), Prid-11. Plain border 2) Utrecht Imitation 2 Stuivers 1786-Dated - UNC Details (Cleaned), cf. KM112 (for type), Prid 11. Plain border 3) Holland Imitation 2 Stuivers 1791-Dated - UNC Details (Reverse Rim Filed), Prid-13 Birmingham mint. According to Pridmore, these imitatives appear to be one of the earliest instances of using Neusilber (German silver) for coinage. Introduced by Singapore merchants around 1834-1836, and suppressed in 1844. Coins imitate the earlier Netherlands East Indies type from Holland and Utrecht and were intended for circulation in British Malaya and modern day Singapore.
