British India. George V 1/2 Rupee 1911-(c) AU58 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM521, S&W-8.61, Prid-318. Struck from a relatively standard mintage in excess of two-million pieces in December of 1911, the series would quickly be recalled the following month due to outrage from the pig-like rendering of the elephant pendant associated with the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire. A key rarity from the British Indian series ranked admirably on the NGC census, displaying strong original luster for the grade and an attractively mottled espresso patina.
