George II Crown 1736 MS62 PCGS, KM575.1, S-3686. NONO edge. Plumes & Roses. The crowns of George II were the last of this denomination to be produced from West Country silver (a provenance denoted by the roses and plumes on the reverse of this example), this source becoming depleted in the mid 18th century and the production of silver coinage altogether slowing to a trickle until the early 19th century. A prestigious grade for the type with only two finer at PCGS, this example displaying a pastel burgundy tone and replete original luster. HID09801242017 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
