Description

Edward III (1327-1377) gold 1/2 Noble ND (1361) MS64 NGC, Tower mint, S-1500, N-1223. Cross Potent mm, Transitional treaty period. 3.83gm. The so-called 'Cursing type', EDWARD DEI G REX ANGL King standing in ship, holding sword and shield // DOMINE IN FVRORE TVO ARGVTS ME Floriate cross in double tressure, crowned leopards at angles, annulets at corners of central panels, Lombardic E at center. A distinguished fractional gold type and one of so very few we've seen in recent years, certainly not this fine as only a single specimen ranks higher in NGC's census.
