Confederation gold 100 Francs 1925-B MS64 Prooflike NGC, Bern mint, KM39, Fr-502, HMZ-2-1193a. Mintage: 5,000. Certain coins seem to exist on a higher aesthetic plain than others, attributed to a combination of technical, historical, and cultural factors; this is one such issue. The iconic braided Helvetia in front of the Alps, instantly recognizable as Swiss, was struck in 1925 for the only time on a large planchet while the soft, satiny luster effortlessly amalgamates with the reflectivity of the Prooflike fields. Less than 5% of certified examples merit the Prooflike designation, with this example one point removed from the top of the census. This is pure class and destined for a premier cabinet.
