Carol I 5 Lei 1901-B MS63+ PCGS, Hamburg mint, KM17.2, Schäffer/Stambuliu-54. Punctuated by a "+" superlative, an indication of the boldness of the surface luster, which is encased by an even layer of russet around the peripherals. Some bagging and a minor rim ding prohibit what would otherwise be a Gem designation, noted for the sake of completeness, but do little to diminish the advanced visual appeal of the current offering. The only date in the series minted in Hamburg and struck on a fractionally larger planchet than the other dates, and most deserving of additional consideration.
