Yunnan. Republic Tael ND (1943-1944) MS62+ PCGS, KM-X3 (under French-Indo China), L&M-435, Kann-939, Lec-325. Small deer head type. A universally revered type from this ever-popular Tael series, not only because of its interesting historical application during the 20th century opium trade, but because of the vastly different design than its "Fu" character counterpart. The obverse of this specimen presents particularly well with a bold "deer" rendering, a crisp outline to the inner circle of the design, and lustrous champagne effervescence.
