Hsüan-t'ung silver Pattern 50 Cents (1/2 Dollar) ND (1910) MS61 PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Y23, L&M-25, Kann-220. By Luigi Giorgi. An outstanding example from one of the most coveted Pattern series in Chinese numismatics, and one from a type almost exclusively witnessed in lesser states of preservation, rarely attaining true Mint State brilliance. The dragon appears to float seamlessly over a mottled argent tone, and surfaces which remains remarkably clear of any significant marks, even under close magnification. The reverse fields display a light nacreous patination that further enhances the mint luster when tilted. Given its overall impressive condition and charm, this piece is expected to generate significant interest as it crosses the auction block.
