Description

Victoria gold "Shield - C/O in Victoria" Sovereign 1879-S MS61 PCGS, Sydney mint, KM6, S-3855, McD-126a. Closer inspection reveals that the "C" in Victoria appears struck over an "O" and a minute die crack evolving from the border further accentuates this impression. A famous and sought after error type included in the Quartermaster collection, and one that appears in only 1:3 ratio compared to the "A for V in Victoria" type on PCGS census. The present selection admits gentle handling marks to obverse that carries mint bloom commensurate with the grade, whereas the reverse faces up largely as struck and fully lustrous. Only two have been certified to Mint State at PCGS, and we anticipate spirited bidding activity at the auction block. Ex.
