Philip IV "Seville Harbor" Cob 8 Reales 1663 P-E AU Details (Environmental Damage) NGC, Potosi mint, KM21, Cal-1527. 26.49gm. Accompanied by COA. Salvaged from the "Seville Harbor" wreck (sunk c. 1671 off Seville, Spain). Clear dates visible on obverse, the motifs appearing just slightly off center but not to the detriment of identification. Maintaining a subtle shine and mauve patination. Seville was the location where the galleons would arrive from the New World. From there, the treasures would sail upriver in smaller boats. In the 1990s, a large amount of Potosi Cobs came to market in Spain, none later than 1671, with the reported provenance of the Seville Harbor.
