Ottoman Empire. Abdul Mejid with Muhammad al-Sadiq Bey gold 100 Piastres AH 1273 (1856/7) AU Details (Tooled) NGC, Tunus mint (in Tunisia), KM130. Despite signs of attempting smoothing in the fields, this large gold issue shows pronounced signs of an originally quite exacting strike, leading one to wonder why tooling was performed at all.
