Description

Victoria Proof "Gothic" Crown 1847 Proof Details (Reverse Rim Damage) NGC, KM744, S-3883, ESC-2577 (prev. ESC-291; R6). Plain edge. Medal alignment. Admitting copious handling marks and wisps, in addition to high-point wear that might suggest a brief stint in circulation. Nonetheless, the refined, Gothic style portrait of Victoria and the crowned cruciform shields with the intricate floral designs within the angles are well delivered. Equally undeniably this is a rare representative of the pure silver, plain edge variety which, perhaps surprisingly, is much scarcer than the 'n over inverted n in unita' pure silver variety. Minor rim bumps and damage noted for completeness, still a commendable selection of this covetable type. HID09801242017 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
