Issued to commemorate the marriage of Grand Duke Alexander (Alexander II) to Maria of Hesse-Darmstadt. Obv. Conjoined portraits of Alexander and Maria left. Rev. Crowned shield with ciphers of Alexander and Maria with supporters Cupid and Psyche. Bold strike, with chocolate-brown patina. Light marks on Alexander's head with some reverse staining. The only example with have seen of this type in copper. Ex. Baldwin's, Markov, and M&M New York Sale XXVI, January 6, 2011, Lot 1293 where it sold for the hammer price of $12,500.
