Description

Saxony. Friedrich August II gold 2 Ducat 1740-FWoF MS62 NGC, Dresden mint, Fr-2843. 6.96gm. A spectacular example of coinage from the Dresden mint, presenting bold luster throughout the fields and design elements that are frosted up to the highest points. Featured on the obverse is the powerful bust of Friedreich August II, Elector of Saxony,  King of Poland, and Grand Duke of Lithuania, with only minor handling observed in the open expanses that surround. A coin of interest to collectors of Polish, German, and Lithuanian numismatics, this multiple ducat remains incredibly scarce in the marketplace--and tellingly--this offering is the only certified specimen of this date at either grading service at present time.
