Description

Eichstätt - Bishopric. Sede Vacante Taler 1781-KR/OE MS65 PCGS, Nürnberg mint, KM90, Dav-2210. A magnificent gem, bright and icy white with prooflike luster to the fields. The excellent degree of preservation in which this coin has been kept allows a full appreciation of the artistic devices: the bird's eye view of the city center, meticulously engraved down to the smallest details, as well as the intricate and complex arms to the reverse. Few of this type even approach this grade level, and indeed this specimen represents the single highest graded by PCGS. Of undeniable beauty and charm, we sold the second highest-graded example in our January 2018 NYINC sale--an MS64 PCGS which realized $7,800--and to obtain this even loftier gem, collectors will have to place a strong bid.
