Description

Bavaria. Maximilian I gold 5 Ducat 1640 AU58 NGC, KM268, Fr-196. Featuring the great Maximilian in full armor and an outstanding city view of Munich with Madonna and child above, this incredibly well-detailed multiple ducat has toned to a deep amber-gold color throughout, while partial underlying luster still radiates from the recesses. As is noted on the holder, wear appears to have been restricted to the highest points, while evidence of handling remains mild across both sides. Symbolically, this selection represents the ability of a wise and effective ruler who protected Munich from the ravages of the Thirty Years' War, and we expect this impressive offering to garner considerable interest among collectors.
